For this young family, we created an interactive garden for play, eco-education and entertaining. The rear garden is inspired by numerous orchard trees and large vegetable boxes where the children love to plant and harvest.

A dry stream bed doubles as an active rear drainage system that collects water from adjoining properties and downspouts. The children enjoy the “creek” year-round with boulders and benches gently forming outdoor rooms.

The entire garden reflects a cohesive design with the front garden displaying a dry stream bed to take advantage of the graceful natural slope. A warm sense of entry was created using natural stone and plants for low water use while keeping deer and rabbits at bay throughout the seasons.
